Instructions:

Before you answer this assignment, please read the following important instructions:

1)   Each student should work independently of the other students.

2)   This assignment should be submitted on the due date, zero mark will follow late submission of an assignment.

3)   This assignment contains two separate questions: the first related to the PowerPoint presentation and the second related to the database Access.

4)   Student cannot use any example from the class or lab exercises already done, but he/she should suggest another different example.

5)   You are required to submit three files (PowerPoint file for the first question, the Access file for the second question and the word file for the Answer Sheet) in softcopy through the Turnitin which is available at the Moodle Website https://lms.ectmoodle.ae.

Assignment

Question 1: PowerPoint presentation            [10 Marks]

You have to create a PowerPoint presentation on any topic of your choice and save it with your name and ID. We suggest some topics in the end of the exercise.

1.Number of slides is at least 5 slides.  (0.5 Marks)

2. The first slide should be with title layout, Write The text of your topic as a title and your name as a subtitle (0.5 Mark, 0.25 for each).

3.You are free to choose other suitable layout for the rest of slides. (0.5 Mark)

4.Slides should contain:

• Picture with effect: Online Pictures or use your own. (1 mark, 0.5 for picture and 0.5 for effect)

• Table filled by information related to selected topic, (0.5 mark)

• Multi-level list (numbering and bullet) related to your topic (1 mark, 0.5 for each level)

• Text as a WordArt with effect (1 mark, 0.5 for WordArt and 0.5 for effect)

• Shape contains text with effect (1 mark, 0.5 for shape and 0.5 for effect)

5.Apply at least two different design templates from PowerPoint. (1 Marks, 0.5 for each)

6.Apply different Slide Transitions for each slide.       (1 Marks)

7.Add slide number for your slides and write your name as Footer in each slide.

(0.5 Mark, 0.25 for each)

8.Apply at least four Custom Animations.      (1 Marks, 0.25 for each)

9.Set timing for each slide. (0.5 mark)

Question 2: File, data structure and Database  [20 Marks]

Part 1 – File and data structure

1. Explain with an example the difference between file structure and file organization. (2 Marks, 1 for each)
2. Among the drawbacks of using file systems is the data redundancy and inconsistency. Explain with an example (2 Marks)

Part 2 – Database Access

Tables

1. Create a new Access file and save it with your name and ID. (0.5 Mark)

2. Create a table with at least five fields to hold any domain that you suggest. All fields should be with different data types. (4.5 Marks: 0.5 for primary key, 1 for each field)
3. Save the table with a meaningful name. (0.5 Mark)

4. Insert 5 records in the table. (0.5 Mark)

Queries

Create the following queries based on your table:

1. Query that views all fields of your table that have one field equal to specific value. Save it as

Query 1. (1 Marks: 0.5 for fields and 0.5 for criterion)

2. Query that views specific defined fields of your table with field has value in range of values.

Save it as Query2. (1 Marks: 0.5 for fields and 0.5 for criterion)

3. Query that views specifics defined fields of your table that have two constraints with relationship “and”. Save it as Query3. (2 Marks: 0.5 for fields and 0.5 for first criterion, 0.5 for second criterion and 0.5 for the relationship)
4. Query that views specifics defined fields of your table that have two constraints with relationship “or”. Save it as Query4. (2 Marks: 0.5 for fields and 0.5 for first criterion, 0.5 for second criterion and 0.5 for the relationship)

1. Create a Stepped report based on your table that views all information classified by one field with any summary calculation. Save the report by “your name_Report”. (2.5 Marks: 0.5 for layout, 0.5 for fields, 0.5 for the title 0.5 for grouping and 0.5 for summary calculation)
